Emily is a PhD candidate in Materials Science and Engineering with a background in micro/nanofabrication. In the group, she develops biodegradable batteries to enable active soil nutrient sensors. This work involves synthesis and testing of hydrogel electrolytes, identifying compatible and biodegradable cathode and anode materials, and devising strategies to package and miniaturize the devices for minimal environmental impact.
